Bastards defending vivisection/ The University of California UCLA
On January 18, 2014 Progress for Science held an afternoon silent vigil for the eleven monkeys being held in the labs of the University of California at Los Angeles. This peaceful gathering of prayer and meditation was met with the screams and curses of UCLA vivisectors David Jentsch and Edythe London as well as others they had recruited. As our supporters both men and women were abused, the police did nothing or little. The University of California subjects monkeys, mice, dogs, cats, and other animals to painful and needless experiments using federal tax dollars. Many of these experiments involve addicting animals to methamphetamine, PCP, nicotine, and other highly destructive drugs. The university has also been cited with numerous welfare violations and continues to be one of only a handful of public universities still engaging in experiments on monkeys. It is important that the public understands this and through public outreach and other events Progress for Science seeks to inform and empower the community.
